1950’s American Character, 20″ BRIDE DOLL Sweet Sue
1950’s American Character, 20″ BRIDE DOLL, Sweet Sue.
This doll makes for a lovely 50’s bride, with shiny blue sleep eyes, with full lashes, and bottom lashes painted on, and beautiful face paint, including painted on eyebrows. She has golden, curly hair. Movable head, arms, waist, and legs. She is wearing an original “Sweet Sue” satin ball gown, that consists of a satin bodice that has tulle-like fabric and lace ruffles along the neckline, with a rose in the center. Straight sleeves, trimmed with tulle-like fabric. A fitted waist, and is then divided  with a bow to show a full taffeta underskirt, with tulle ruffles. The bodice and underskirt both snap in the back. Underneath, is another underskirt, which has a wire running through it to give the whole outfit some poof. It is slightly worn, and is being held together with an old safety pin rather than a snap. Sweet Sue Pantaloons, with elastic around the thighs and waist, and lovely white high-heeled, open-toed shoes that have an elastic strap on the back so that they don’t fall off. The elastic is old, so it is tied in a small knot in the back to make it tighter around her ankles (please see photos). They are slightly worn, but still in good condition. She has a nice little white bonnet lined with pearls. She is also holding a lovely bouquet of white roses. Her fingernails and toenails are painted with pale pink nail polish.
Condition: Light overall soiling, some yellowing to dress. Estate find. No bad odors. Original clothing, shoes, etc. Overall, this doll is in great condition, considering its age.
